How it all started?

Both me and my sister (we run the blog together but we always post in first person); we are both very creative individuals and have been looking for a creative outlet for the longest time. Though we procrastinated for a long time whether we should start a blog or not but one day we took the plunge and that is how it all started really.

Pieces Of Advice!

Ermm I would say make sure you are doing it for the right reasons and not just following the bandwagon because if you do it for the wrong reasons you will not enjoy it long-term.

Second be consistent with your posts, that’s how you build a following and meet bloggers as well. So consistency is key.

I nominate the following bloggers for this award:

Thank you again DazedMuse for the nomination x

Updated: Skincare + Body Routine

New year means reflection on routines and adapting or changing them because; you know what it’s a new year and new opportunity to improve on things. One of my main goals for this year is to continue improving my skin I want it to be flawless if there is such a thing. And as I get older it’s now more important than ever to do as much as you can to look after you skin.

For my face I continue to use Mary Kay products however the packing and the formula for both the cleansing gel and lotion has changed, I would say it has been improved upon. I have also made a conscious decision to start using body scrubs for my body at least once a week in order to do a deep exfoliation.

  1. Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask: This is one of my holy grail products even mentioned on my wish list October Wishlist… I have used it multiple times before and I love it. It’s one of those masks that works immediately, after use you will see reduced pores and clearer glowing skin. You can get this at multiple stores and the price point is not too steep plus really when it comes to skin care you really have to invest because it’s the skin you will have for life. Here are some places you can get it , Sephora and Boots
  2. Mary Kay botanical effects cleansing gel: This is the same as the one I was using before Skin Care Regime the only different is the formula has been improved upon and it now contains dragon fruit & aloe extracts which are full antioxidants.
  3. Mary Kay  botanical effects toner: This I have been using since last year Skin Care Regime, I inter-change between this and the apple cider homemade toner I use.
  4. Mary Kay Hydrate & Protect: This again is the same face lotion I was using before too Skin Care Regime but the formula has been improving. It now has a sun screen protect of up to SPF30 which the previous formula didn’t have.
  5. Body Scrub: This body scrub I use once a week. This particular scrub I got from TKMAXX ; it is a lemon & eucalyptus mermaid salt scrub. I love the smell and feeling it gives me after use. And I can’t recommend adding this to a skincare routine you really do feel and see the difference in your skin. With scrubs I always find amazing ones at TKMAXX/TJMAXX especially if you are still experimenting and finding your signature.

Do you have any new skin care routine recommendations for 2017? x

OOTD: Monochrome Chic Outfit

Black Thigh high boots and white Jacket

Honestly it is impossible to ever go wrong with black & white /monochromatic colors when it comes to dressing up. I think this is why I continue to naturally gravitate towards these “colors” or “shades” when I am dressing up. On this particular day I wasn’t doing anything too fancy just casual lunch outing.

Jacket: I love this jacket the design was what specifically drew me to it because of the faux leather cuff detail that makes it stand out from just being a typical draped jacket. The contrast in the material and color makes it that extra fashionable.  This specific jacket is still available SheIn which is quickly becoming one of my favorite online store White contrast coat

Black shirt: I have had this shirt for a very long time now several years actually, I think I got it from H&M. This is a basic design you can find easily fortunately though H&M has an identical design Viscose black shirt

Black Jeans: This particular pair of jeans I cannot tell you when I particularly got them but they are a recent purchase. Again with things like jeans and tops you can find easily it’s all about how much you want to spend. However for black jeans in particular places like Forever 21 classic solid skinny jeans or TopShop black Jamie jeans offer a range of choices.

Thigh high boots: who doesn’t like feeling like they are living on the edge once it a while or feel a little bit bad-ass. This is what this particular pair of boots does for me when I feel a little extra and like a spy I bring out this pair. I have had them for a couple of years but they continue to be my favorite pair of thigh high boots. This pair I can’t remember where exactly I got but trust ASOS to always have an identical design Knee high boots

Fashion Inspiration:Easily Spice Up For That Date Night look

Outfit Idea.PNG

I am in a very inspired mood right now, so I thought why not take advantage of that creativity and come up with some mood boards and outfit ideas. I mean you can never plan too many outfits not that I have any future going out events planned out (yet!).

So I decided to do a little date night inspired outfit, the good thing about this look is it can be a date night with the significant other or even a ladies/friends night out idea. It’s versatile like that so you can wear this to many occasions.

Dress: Who does like a bold beautiful statement piece in their wardrobe and with their outfit. I decided to make this bardot/off the shoulder mustard dress the center piece of the whole look. I also choose it for selfish reasons because I recently got a dress like this during the New Year sales so I thought why not style it so I come up with an event to wear it quickly to. Here are two quite similar designs from different prices points ASOS’ Mustard Shift Dress or New Look’s  Yellow Cold Shoulder shift dress

Blazer: This is a classic piece in my wardrobe and should be a necessarily addition to every girl’s wardrobe. A blazer even better a tailored blazer adds that extra chicness and sleekness to any outfit it takes it that little extra mile. I love this blazer especially the contrast of navy blue inner lining and classic black on the outside. I have talked about blazers a lot and featured multiple time Black and White Casual Outfit

Heels: I liked the simplicity of the heels because I wanted to keep the attention on the dress still, so the shoes I chose a simple black design the only sexy or stand out feature of the heel is the lace tie detail which I think is enough. I have a very similar pair that you can rock this outfit with Black Killer Heels: Walk This Way…

Chain strap clutch: I love a chain strap bag, it’s so handy for a night out because it forces you not to carry too much unnecessary stuff in your bag. But it also versatile for dressed up or dressed down look books or outfits. I have wanted one for the longest time even featured this in a previous post October Wishlist… Now I have one that I got from ASOS but the exact one isn’t there but there is Missguided Exclusive Quilted Box Bag With Chain Handle

Holiday Finds: Summer/Spring Inspired

One of the main reasons why I love travelling is because I enjoy learning about other cultures and appreciate experiencing life from someone else’s viewpoint. I love fashion (hello that’s why I love fashion blogging) so I always try to buy fashion/clothing items that I find are unique, gorgeous and say something about the place and culture of the place I have been to. I have been loving bags especially should bags lately, I have mentioned this in one of my wish list post October Wishlist…

So I took my last holiday  trip as an opportunity to get a beautiful bag (well I ended up coming back with two couldn’t resist).  These bags I got at the Market which is located in Stone Town in the middle of Zanzibar. It’s really a unique experience shopping here because every vendor you go past you find amazing things and it’s so difficult to control yourself (my advice go with a budget and you will be fine). Anyways the two bags I got are:

Clutch: The color is what drew me to the clutch, it’s so bright and vibrant makes me excited to wear it with any outfit. The print however is what gave me the final push, the print is usual what you find with most clothing items in Africa especially the Eastern and Western parts. Usually you find this pattern on dashikis; popular items that are increasingly becoming popular in Europe and Americas etc. The clutch is handmade beautifully you can tell because it is also sturdy and the stitching is flawless.

Shoulder/cross bag: I saw the contrasting beads on the bag and immediately I had to have it, firstly you don’t see many bags made from medium sized wooden beads out there. I don’t think I have ever seen one actually, then the colors they beads are two shades but contrasting a dark Burgundy/wine red color and a muted cream. Aside from the design I also liked the size and quality feel of it, it is also handmade and just by looking at it I know it will last a long time.

These two bags I will be using a lot I am especially looking forward to using them over spring/summer season. Is it too soon to be buying summer/spring things in the middle of winter?

Holiday Simple Look (OOTD)

Happy 2017 everyone, hopefully everyone had an amazing break, ate a lot of food, drank enough and spent a lot of time with their loved ones. This is officially my first post for 2017 and to make in remembrance of an amazing 2016, I will post on my last holiday.

So last year well saying last year makes it sounds so far, but in December I got to travel to Zanzibar/Tanzania for a week and all I can say is it’s a must visit place, one of the most gorgeous countries I have even been to. Blue water, white sands, gorgeous weather amazing and friendly people and very culturally enriching. I can’t say enough amazing things about the experience (2017- I am going to add a travel section to this blog so I can start sharing a lot more on travelling).

In the meantime lets focus on the fashion, when I went it was very hot around 31 degrees every-day and on this particular day there was a lot of walking so I wanted to be comfy as well as dressed appropriately because modesty is also appreciated as it’s also a Muslim country.

Jeans: I’m sure you are tired of these jeans, they have been featured on multiple occasions. They continue to be one of my favorite jeans like someone once said “a good pair of jeans is like a good boyfriend once you find it hold onto it”. So I will wear the heck out of them until they are torn. Some of the posts they are featured in include Recap To My Favorite Outfits.

Top: These gorgeous off the shoulder/ Bardot top I have had for several years and every summer it comes out. And I have found a similar design Off the shoulder lace top.

Fedora/Hat: This I have had too for several years and it’s been featured in one of my more recent previous post Winter Black Chic Staple Items and here is an inexpensive identical design from Romwe Black fedora hat as well as this H&M Felt hat

Blue scarf: The scarf I got there, they have some amazing market and make some of the most gorgeous clothing pieces with the softest material and beautiful prints (to be featured more in the coming weeks).

Flip Flops: These are just basic flip flops I have had for several years, they are not the most fashionable but hey they are comfy and sometimes comfy over fashion I say.

How was everyone’s xmas break and how is 2017 looking so far? any excited new year’s resolutions?
