One of the main reasons why I love travelling is because I enjoy learning about other cultures and appreciate experiencing life from someone else’s viewpoint. I love fashion (hello that’s why I love fashion blogging) so I always try to buy fashion/clothing items that I find are unique, gorgeous and say something about the place and culture of the place I have been to. I have been loving bags especially should bags lately, I have mentioned this in one of my wish list post October Wishlist…
So I took my last holiday trip as an opportunity to get a beautiful bag (well I ended up coming back with two couldn’t resist). These bags I got at the Market which is located in Stone Town in the middle of Zanzibar. It’s really a unique experience shopping here because every vendor you go past you find amazing things and it’s so difficult to control yourself (my advice go with a budget and you will be fine). Anyways the two bags I got are:
Clutch: The color is what drew me to the clutch, it’s so bright and vibrant makes me excited to wear it with any outfit. The print however is what gave me the final push, the print is usual what you find with most clothing items in Africa especially the Eastern and Western parts. Usually you find this pattern on dashikis; popular items that are increasingly becoming popular in Europe and Americas etc. The clutch is handmade beautifully you can tell because it is also sturdy and the stitching is flawless.
Shoulder/cross bag: I saw the contrasting beads on the bag and immediately I had to have it, firstly you don’t see many bags made from medium sized wooden beads out there. I don’t think I have ever seen one actually, then the colors they beads are two shades but contrasting a dark Burgundy/wine red color and a muted cream. Aside from the design I also liked the size and quality feel of it, it is also handmade and just by looking at it I know it will last a long time.
These two bags I will be using a lot I am especially looking forward to using them over spring/summer season. Is it too soon to be buying summer/spring things in the middle of winter?
